Message From the Principal

Hello Holy Trinity families;

Thanks to all the parents/guardians who were able to come out yesterday to our "Meet the Teacher" event.  It was great to see everyone!  We had our first Fire Drill of the year this week, and I'm pleased to report that all students and staff executed this necessary safety procedure well.  Thank you!

This weekend, we wish our Jewish families "G'mar chatima tovah" as they prepare for Yom Kippur, a holy day of atonement.  Next week, Sept. 21 - 25, is Truth and Reconciliation Week as well as Deaf Awareness Week.

Lastly, please see below for some important information about morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups.

Morning Drop-Off

In our continuing efforts to reduce on-site vehicle congestion and maintain safety for all, we urge parents to adopt the “walk-a-block” request and drop students off a block (or more?) away from school.  If that is not possible, we ask parents dropping students off in the morning to drive through the side parking lot and continue through to the side door (as indicated on the diagram) when dropping off students, in order to help alleviate congestion on Katimavik Road.

Afternoon Pick-Up

Please be reminded that due to the larger number of yellow buses servicing our school this year, our parking lots will be blocked off/inaccessible for student pick-up after school.  We now have yellow buses staging in both the bus loop and the side parking lot, so for safety reasons we cannot have parent vehicles on property at this time.  Again, we strongly urge parents to have their students walk-a-block by picking them up a block or more away from school property.  We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring that everyone stays safe.  Thank you!

Final Assessments – Exams and RSTs – School Year Calendar   

Grade 9 - 12 students’ examinations and Rich Summative Tasks (RSTs) WILL NOT be rescheduled for holiday or travel convenience, and all appointments should be scheduled so as not to conflict with exams and RSTs.  If a medical problem arises, a Vice Principal must be contacted prior to the exam or RST.  Medical certificates will be required to permit alternate arrangements for final examinations in these cases.

Students and Parents/Guardians can refer to the OCSB website for the Grade 9 - 12 calendar. These calendars identify the first and last day of school, PD days, Statutory Holidays, Board Holidays, and High School exams. As a general rule, it is prudent to avoid any planned student absences during the months of January and June as this is when RSTs and exams are scheduled.

OCSB International Languages Credit Courses

Check out the virtual and in person international language courses being offered on Saturdays here. Registration is open until October 3rd.

Student Services will update the Community Service Opportunities page on their website throughout the year as opportunities become available.  Please check back often for activities by which students can complete their 40 hours of community service required for graduation. 

International Languages Secondary Credit Program

Registration is open! Conted.ocsb.ca 

The International Languages Secondary Credit Program gives students in Grades 9–12 the opportunity to earn up to three Ontario secondary school credits while developing their language skills and learning about diverse cultures. Students can strengthen a home language, continue learning a language they already know, or explore a new one. See This Link for more information.

International & Indigenous Languages Program – Elementary

The International & Indigenous Languages Program - Elementary is open to students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 from all school boards, offering a welcoming environment where students can explore a new language or strengthen their home language through engaging language-learning activities. Ottawa 67's Day Game

The Grade 7 & 8 students at Holy Trinity have once again been invited to attend the annual Ottawa 67’s School Day Game at the arena at TD Place Lansdowne This is an exciting event that attracts many schools from the Ottawa Catholic School Board, and which promotes school spirit and community building. The date of the excursion is Wednesday, November 4. Sign up at School Cash Online by Wednesday, October 7.

France & Belgium Commemorative Vimy Trip 

NOW OPEN TO Gr 9 - 12 STUDENTS* 

It is not too late to register for the 2027 Commemorative Trip to France & Belgium. In April 2027, Holy Trinity staff and students will be travelling to France and Belgium, where they will participate in the 110th Vimy Ridge Commemoration Ceremony, visiting Paris, Normandy and Belgium. Watsons Mill

Do you have what it takes? Watson’s Mill in Manotick wants you to join our cast and crew for a truly haunting experience. We need volunteers to help with make up and costuming, as well as to scare our visitors and leave them frightened of things that go bump in the night.Haunt Night volunteers will be needed for the evenings of October 22, 23, and 24 from 5pm – 9:45pm. All time spent as part of our cast and crew can be used towards the 40 hours of community service needed to graduate.
