Good afternoon;
Today was our Terry Fox Day, and it was a huge success, as always! There were sombre/reflective moments, of course, but otherwise the energy and spirits were high! All members of our community, students and staff, come together to run, walk, and honour Terry's mission. We'd like to sincerely thank our students, staff and parent community for their immense generosity for our 25th annual Terry Fox Fundraiser! Our Terry Fox Day was a wonderful way to celebrate our students' efforts. They ran, walked, played, sang, danced, dunked and jumped! Go Trinity! Special thanks, as always, to our dedicated staff - everyone pitches in to make this the fantastic day that it is.
At the time of publication, Holy Trinity has raised an amazing $41,380!!
Everyone worked so hard, but our standout homeroom fundraisers deserve extra recognition:
Mr. Kea's Racers (Gr. 9) raised over $2500!! 🎉Way to go!! 🎉
Ms. Warriner's Winners (Gr. 12) raised $2146!
M. Begin's Big Brained Beauties (Gr. 8) raised $2090
We have reached our goal, but it would be great if we could beat last year's amount of $42,186! Donations will continue to be accepted on the Holy Trinity page (Click Here). Please share with your family and friends to help us beat last year's amount!
Gr. 9-12 Letters of Early Intervention were emailed home yesterday to the parents/guardians of any student for whom there is a concern in class (academic, attendance, participation, behaviour, etc). Parent/Guardian-Teacher Interviews will be held next Thursday, Oct. 15th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Thursday, Oct. 15th will also be an Early Dismissal day (1:20pm) for all students (Gr. 7 - 12). Yellow buses will be ready to pick students up at 1:20, but OC Transpo buses may or may not be able to adjust their schedules.
There are many things to celebrate and raise awareness of in October. It is Islamic Heritage Month, Korean Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Caribbean Heritage Month and Women's History Month. October is also Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, Canadian Autism Awareness Month and Dwarfism Awareness and Acceptance Month. May we all learn about the rich diversity that makes us who we are!
Last week we observed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation/Orange Shirt Day. Classes followed a self-directed Reconciliation walk around the school grounds, learning about the 60s Scoop and Kinship. The Outdoor Education Class recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Murphys Point Provincial Park. The students spent three days canoeing and camping on the traditional territory of the Algonquin peoples (Omàmiwininiwak), where they developed a greater appreciation for the traditional lands and waterways. See photo below.
I wish you all a restful and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving weekend.

Grade 9 - 12 students’ examinations and Rich Summative Tasks (RSTs) WILL NOT be rescheduled for holiday or travel convenience, and all appointments should be scheduled so as not to conflict with exams and RSTs. If a medical problem arises, a Vice Principal must be contacted prior to the exam or RST. Medical certificates will be required to permit alternate arrangements for final examinations in these cases.
Students and Parents/Guardians can refer to the OCSB website for the Grade 9 - 12 calendar. These calendars identify the first and last day of school, PD days, Statutory Holidays, Board Holidays, and High School exams. As a general rule, it is prudent to avoid any planned student absences during the months of January and June as this is when RSTs and exams are scheduled.
