Hello Holy Trinity families;
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, and that you were able to spend time with family and/or friends.
Gr. 9 - 12 Parent/Guardian-Teacher Interviews were held yesterday. It was good to see many of you here. Thank you for partnering with us in your child(ren)'s education! We will hold Gr. 7/8 Parent/Guardian-Teacher Interviews on November 19th.
Looking ahead, Wednesday, November 4, is Take Our Kids to Work Day for our Gr. 9 students. This is an amazing opportunity for rich career learning experiences.
Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Halloween Costume Considerations
With Halloween just around the corner, the countdown is on to find the perfect Halloween costume. As tempting as it may be for students to dress up in pretty much anything they want to be, it is important to consider a more thoughtful approach to whether the costume is culturally sensitive and appropriate. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, cultural appropriation is “the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect the culture.” Halloween is a fun event, and with some creativity and imagination, parents can help their child(ren) when deciding on a costume that aligns with a culturally sensitive Halloween. Being proactive can help all of us to avoid uncomfortable situations at school and in our community, and can help us ensure that Halloween is a fun event where all students feel safe and honoured. Of course, costume choices may not include masks or prop weapons.

Grade 9 - 12 students’ examinations and Rich Summative Tasks (RSTs) WILL NOT be rescheduled for holiday or travel convenience, and all appointments should be scheduled so as not to conflict with exams and RSTs. If a medical problem arises, a Vice Principal must be contacted prior to the exam or RST. Medical certificates will be required to permit alternate arrangements for final examinations in these cases. Students and Parents/Guardians can refer to the OCSB website for the Grade 9 - 12 calendar. These calendars identify the first and last day of school, PD days, Statutory Holidays, Board Holidays, and High School exams. As a general rule, it is prudent to avoid any planned student absences during the months of January and June as this is when RSTs and exams are scheduled.
