Message From the Principal
Good afternoon, Holy Trinity Families;
With that, the school year draws to a close, and this is our final newsletter. I'll take this time, as I often do, to highlight some more Trinity Excellence! We are excited to announce that three Gr. 10 students, all members of the Holy Trinity Boys' Varsity hockey team, have been drafted by Junior Hockey organizations! Brody Schulz was drafted to the OHL in the 5th round, 83rd overall by the Sudbury Wolves and Marcus Smolcic was drafted to the OHL in the 8th round, 159th overall by the Ottawa 67s. Sam Watzenboeck was drafted to the CJHL in the 60th round to the Rockland Nationals. All students have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and truly represent what it means to be a Holy Trinity Tornado. I include some photos below. The following students placed in the Gold and Bronze level in the province for the Sigma online Mathematics contest offered by Mohawk College: Shaun Brennan and Reilley Charron (Gold) and Daniel Vega and Ava Hyacinth (Bronze). We are so proud of all of our students!
Our Gr. 12 students wrote their last exams today. Next Monday and Tuesday, our Gr. 9 students will be finishing RSTs, and our Gr. 10 & 11 students will be finishing their exams. Our Gr. 7/8 students are looking forward to Monday, where they will be spending the day at Calypso, at the movies, or having a fun day at school. Next week, we will have our Gr. 7/8 Athletic and Extracurricular Awards as well as our Academic Awards celebrations. Gr. 7/8 final report cards will be available on the Parent Portal as of Wednesday, June 24th, and they will also be distributed to students as paper copies on the same day. Gr. 9-12 semester 2 final report cards will be available on the Parent Portal as of Thursday, July 2nd.
In preparation for the summer and the new school year, please remind students to take home everything from their lockers and to clean out any garbage as well. They should also check the lost and found in the atrium, where all items are on display. It is also required to return any textbooks, team uniforms/equipment and any other school-owned items. Thank you!
I continue to be so proud to serve as principal of Holy Trinity! I am reminded daily of the excellence that abounds in our student body - in all areas. The creativity and hard work of students and staff always impress and amaze me. I'm most proud of not just the accolades and awards, but of every time a student steps outside of their comfort zone and tries something new. Most importantly, I love being part of our collective community and witnessing all of the small kindnesses shown towards others in our school community daily.
I wish you all a wonderful summer. To our graduating students - I will see you next Thursday and shake your hand as you cross the stage! To those not returning to Trinity in September, I wish you all the best in all of your future endeavours.

From Parent Council
Our Parent Council undertook many initiatives this year, and they were happy to be able to contribute to student activities. Please read this letter from Council Chair Alison Watters outlining the fundraising details. You can always find contact information and meeting minutes on the "Parents" page of the Holy Trinity website under "Catholic School Council". We are very thankful to our parents/guardian community for continuing to partner with us, and a special thank you to all who participated in Council this year.
Storytime at Katimavik Early Learning Center Daycare!
Students from Mr. Davison's Language class created childrens' books. To make this project extra meaningful they took turns reading their books to the children at the daycare. This was such a wonderful experience for all involved!
OSTA Updates
Presto Card Holders
If you received a PRESTO pass during the current school year, please keep it for the 2026–2027 school year.
In August, you can check the OSTA Parent Portal to confirm whether your child will continue to receive OC Transpo transportation. If a PRESTO pass is assigned for the upcoming school year, the existing pass will remain active and can continue to be used.
OC Transpo: Free Rides for Youth
This summer, the city transit committee has arranged for free rides for youth aged 11-18 on OC Transpo in July and August.
Students who already have active passes from OSTA will automatically have access to the free rides using their existing cards. Any youth without a pass from OSTA can go to a Shoppers or Loblaws with proof of age and get a regular $4 Presto pass set to the Youth fare type to ride for free as well.
If obtaining the pass presents a problem for family, please contact your child's Vice Principal.
OSTA Parent Portal Schedule
The OSTA Parent Portal closes June 30, 2026 and reopens second week in August. To ensure your child is automatically added to the system, please ensure you use the same email address for your Parent Portal account as the one listed in your school records.
Notice: Important Update Regarding OC Transpo for 2026–2027 School Year:
Due to ongoing OC Transpo service issues, transportation for Holy Trinity Intermediate/High School is being adjusted. Parts of the current OC Transpo service area will transition to yellow bus service, utilizing large buses, small buses, or in some rare cases, vans. Please see THIS MAP for more details.
Next Steps for Families
We are currently finalizing the revised route schedules. Your child’s specific bus stop location and schedule will be available on the OSTA Parent Portal in mid-August.
If you already have an account: Please log in during mid-August to review the updated schedule and familiarize your family with the new routine.
If you do not have an account: You will need to create one. When registering, please ensure you use the exact email address your child’s school has on file so your records sync correctly.
Joint Custody
OSTA has extended the deadline for NEW joint custody forms for families impacted by this change. Applications are now due by June 19 to ensure transportation can begin on the first day of school in September.
Stay Informed in Real-Time
To track your new route and receive instant updates, we highly encourage all parents and caregivers to download the OSTA web app once your new route information is available. This is the fastest way to receive push notifications regarding weather-related cancellations or unexpected delays.
France & Belgium Commemorative Vimy Trip
For any current Gr. 9 - 11 students (students who will be in Gr. 10 - 12 next year), it is not too late to register for the 2027 Commemorative Trip to France & Belgium. In April 2027, Holy Trinity staff and students will be travelling to France and Belgium where they will participate in the 110th Vimy Ridge Commemoration Ceremony, visiting Paris, Normandy and Belgium. This is a once-in-a-lifetime trip!

Futures Lab Summer STEM Program
The Futures Lab Summer STEM Program is designed for students in grades 9 to 11 and runs weekly cohorts of 20–25 youth through hands-on experiences with drones, 3D printing, virtual reality, and robotics. It takes place in Kanata North, Canada's largest technology park, putting young people right in the heart of Ottawa's tech community. We're especially focused on reaching youth who may not yet have had access to these fields and the career pathways they open up.

Summer School Registration Closes TODAY!!
Registration for Summer School courses and programs with the Ottawa Catholic School Board is open until June 19th. There are a wide variety of courses available both online and in person. Please see the summer school website for course offerings and registration forms. Please note students may only register for ONE summer school course in July. Technology Return: Important!!
As we approach the end of the term, it’s time to start coordinating our annual technology collection. To ensure a smooth transition and allow our LC team enough time for summer maintenance, we need to get the logistics in place now.
Important Notes: Tape your name to the front of the device and charger. In the fall, any students with a balance for damaged or missing devices, etc will be denied a device lease until the fines are removed. Grade 12s will be denied caps and gowns if they have an outstanding fine or missing devices.
Inventory Check: Ensure you have located all peripherals (chargers, adapters, keyboards, and cases) assigned to you.
Reporting Damage: If any equipment is cracked, broken, or malfunctioning, please bring it to the LC in advance of the collection dates.
Please note the firm deadline for all equipment returns. All Loaned devices are to be returned as follows:
All tech returns for all grades are to be returned by June 22nd 2026. There will be a teacher outside of the Learning Commons doors accepting returns. Please make sure returns are made in person to the teacher on duty. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD DEVICES BE DROPPED OFF UNATTENDED.
Riparia 2026 Program Applications Now Open!
Riparia is a Canadian registered charity that works to connect young women and science on the water. With our team of guides, scientists, and Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, participants learn and experience different ways of doing science, thinking about water, and learning from our environment. We run one multi-day program each year. We partner with experienced guides from Boreal River Rescue to prioritize safety and comfort for all. Our participants receive access to exciting tools, like underwater drones and portable microscopes and leave our program with robust outdoor skills, lasting friendships, and the know how to protect fresh waters for life. Five days of canoe camping. For young women ages 13 to 18. To learn all about water and why it matters. Entirely free!

BFCN Scholarship Opportunity
A reminder that the 2026-2027 BFCN Scholarships & Awards application cycle has launched! BFCN will once again be awarding six $1000 scholarships and awards to Black students pursuing post-secondary education in accredited Canadian institutions. All online applications and supporting documents must be submitted by July 31, 2026.

High School Final Exam and RST Period – June 16th to 24th
Grade 9 Students
Please note that Grade 9 courses do not have final exams. The last day of regular class for Grade 9 students will be Wednesday, June 17th. They will work on the final parts of their RSTs on June 18th, 19th, 22nd and 23rd between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. The class that the student will attend on each day will correspond with the period. For example, the first day is June 18th, and students will complete the RST for Period 1 that day.
Students taking Grade 9 Math (MTH1W) this semester will also be writing the Math EQAO Assessment, instead of the final portion of the RST, during this time, as it counts for 10% of their final grade. Students enrolled in MAT1L will not be writing the EQAO assessment.
Grade 10-11 Students
The last day of regular classes for all students in Grades 10-11 is Wednesday, June 17th. June 18th, 19th, 22nd and 23rd are exam days for these students. All exams begin at 8:00 am.
Grade 12 Students
The last day of regular classes for all students in Grades 12 is Monday, June 15th. June 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th, are exam days for Grade 12 students. All exams begin at 8:00 am.
E-Learning Exams
There will not be any formal, supervised exams for E-Learning, rather, all final exams/summative assessments will be completed by the student in the same way they have completed assessments throughout the semester. Students taking E-Learning courses will receive information about their exam/summative assessment directly from their E-Learning teacher.
Attendance for Exams
Attendance is mandatory for exams. Students are expected to write exams on the given date, in the allotted time frame. Please plan ahead so as to not schedule appointments, trips, etc. on these dates. If a medical problem arises, a Vice Principal must be contacted prior to the exam or RST. Medical certificates will be required to permit alternate arrangements for final examinations in these cases.
Credit Intervention Days for Grades 9-12
Wednesday, June 24th, and Thursday, June 25th, are designated Credit Intervention Days for students in Grades 9-12. This is especially important for students who may be at risk of not achieving the credit. Teachers will contact students and parents if credit intervention is necessary for a specific course.
Students and Parents/Guardians can refer to the OCSB website for the Grade 9 - 12 calendar. These calendars identify the first and last day of school, PD days, Statutory Holidays, Board Holidays, and High School exams. As a general rule, it is prudent to avoid any planned student absences during the months of January and June as this is when RSTs and exams are scheduled.
